It has to start somewhere

Welcome to a place I hope you can feel at home; I’m Crystal and I live in Southern California with my Husband, Scott and our son, Killian. I’ve always felt the need to help others through words, as a kid it was a simple conversation with the other kid being bullied, teenage years was a note passed in class or left in a locker, as a hairstylist I was let into the brains of my clients and now, we write captions under a photo for the entire world to read (and hopefully find it somewhat relatable).

Now as a Mom, I find myself talking in my head all day telling myself that all of this [this mess, these tantrums, the sticky boy fingers, and the endless PILES of LAUNDRY] is all normal and it’s ok. 

I’m not sure yet what will become of this space but I promise to always keep it authentic. May it be a parenting story or a home project I hope it will somehow keep you going and fuel your day. I find that sometimes the best way to help someone is to let them into YOUR own head, so, welcome to my mom brain, I hope you’ll stay awhile.

DIY Mudroom Built In/Hall Tree with a Bench & Drawers When we moved into our home (going on 4 years ago now) I had a vision for this little wall from the start. I knew I wanted a "mudroom" but being in California those don't exist, new builds are starting to incorporate them but not to the grandness of those beautiful country homes gracing our feeds lately. If you are looking for that craftsman/farmhouse charm of a place to hang your coat or sit down to put your shoes on and lack a dedicated room but have a wall...this is the tutorial for you! What we started with:   Toddler Boy Room Makeover (all items used in this room are linked under their category) Why a "grown up" kids room you ask? When I think of a child's room I instantly think back to my childhood rooms. Bright colors and character wallpaper or decals placed thoughtlessly on the walls, plastic tables and chairs (nothing wrong them they clean up great!), character sheets and comforters that I vividly remember never being soft enough and always cold, it was a room I would get bored of very very fast and want to re decorate. (That could also just be a me thing lol!)
